Foot Care

The foot is made up of 26 bones, 33 joints and over a hundred muscles, tendons and ligaments. As you can see it is a rather complicated structure. The feet are important in locomotion and for most of us, hold our weight for the whole day. It is important that we maintain a strong base because when our base (feet) have an injury or pain, it can make daily life very complicated and lead to more serious issues if left unattended.

Some of the injuries that we commonly see at ProCare Health Clinics are:

  • Heel pain (Bone Spurs or Bruises)
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Collapsed arch
  • Bunions
  • Metatarsalgia
  • Achilles bursitis/tendonitis
  • Fractures in any of the bones
  • Improper foot function
  • Morton’s Neuroma
  • Varicose veins
  • Tired, swollen feet and legs

Whether you’re experiencing pain in your feet, ankles, hips or lower back, improper foot function may be the cause. Our qualified foot specialist (chiropodist) will perform a gait analysis and biomechanics assessment to identify foot issues that may be contributing to aches and pains throughout your body. We’ll work with you to develop a treatment plan that provides solutions to improve foot function, restore proper alignment in your body, and alleviate pain and swelling in your feet, Orthotics are custom made insoles made for your feet and will help align your body. We offer the latest in cutting edge technology to evaluate and manufacture orthotics.

Chiropody is the assessment of the foot and the treatment and prevention of diseases or disorders of the foot by therapeutic, orthotic and palliative means. Patients with certain type of conditions may benefit from orthotic prescription as an adjunct to physiotherapy or chiropractic treatment. Orthotics are custom made foot supports that fit into shoes which help to place the foot in a biomechanically correct position, allowing the muscles, tendons, ligaments and bones to function more efficiently.
